Marksburg, Braubach
Erected in the 13th century, Marksburg Castle towers high above the river and is both a landmark and the showpiece of UNESCO’s World Heritage Site ‘Upper Middle Rhine Valley’. It is the only hilltop castle on the Rhine never to have been
destroyed and, perhaps more than any other fortification, it embodies the essence of courtly life in a medieval castle. Any Rhine trip should include a visit to this castle.
