Lahneck Castle, Lahnstein

Burg Lahneck in Lahnstein
Lahneck Castle, Lahnstein

Overlooking the point at which the Lahn joins the Rhine is Lahneck Castle which was built in 1244. With its combination of medieval architecture and 19th century neo-gothic additions, it is a classic example of the castles of Rhine Romanticism.

The interior with its chapel, great hall, valuable paintings and furniture is particularly worth seeing. The castle is privately owned.
