Nature and culture, castles and palaces - locals and visitors alike can enjoy all this and more on a trip through the Upper Middle Rhine Valley World Heritage Site. The scene is constantly changing along the 67 ‘Rhine kilometres’ and all you really need to do is look on and be amazed.
But if you prefer, there are also some more active alternatives. The World
Heritage Valley provides the perfect setting in which to pursue your favourite
activity amidst the beauty of nature or against a backdrop of castles, palaces
or historic townscapes. The top favourites are obviously hiking on the Rheinsteig and RheinBurgenWeg trails, cycling along the Rhine or - for especially competent and experienced water sports enthusiasts - canoeing down the mighty river. But the valley between Rüdesheim, Bingen and Koblenz has even more to offer! Whether you’re interested in miniature golf or proper golf, tennis or archery, squash or badminton, Nordic walking or swimming, the Valley of the Loreley has plenty of leisure activities for you to enjoy. If you’d like to see the World Heritage Site from a different perspective there are several alternatives: a total of four chair lifts offer breathtaking views. Experience nature up close on one of the via ferrata climbing trails or on the attractive tree-top walk. And if all that isn’t high enough for you, you could even try paragliding.
