The height of hiking pleasure. The UNESCO World Heritage Site ‘Upper Middle Rhine Valley’ can rightfully claim to be an Eldorado for hikers. The best known routes are the Rheinsteig and the RheinBurgenWeg; in fact the Rheinsteig has rapidly become the star amongst Germany’s premium hiking trails. But the smaller trails are very popular, too, so why not get ‘side tracked’?
The Rhine Valley offers everything the hiker’s heart desires: exhilarating landscapes and magnificent views from vantage points high above the Rhine. Hanging like balconies between the sky and the river, these viewpoints invite you to take in the impressive panoramic vistas. The vegetation is so rich and varied
that there is always something new to be found around the next bend. The routes
are never boring - on the contrary: there are scores of castles, romantic villages
and refreshment stops to break up the day’s hike. Despite the area’s undulating
elevation profile, the trails here are suitable for all levels of fitness.
