- Cycler break at the Pfalz
With its sophisticated network of cycling routes of all lengths, including both easy
and more challenging stretches, the Rhine Valley is a real cyclist’s paradise. The tributary valleys of Nahe, Lahn and Moselle have their own very distinctive
characters, but can easily be combined with a tour through the Rhine Valley.
The Schinderhannes Cycle Trail
The cycle path along the disused railway line between Emmelshausen, Kastellaun and Simmern im Hunsrück offers 38 km of non-stop cycling fun. Cycle through glorious landscapes far away from busy roads and enjoy magnificent views across the Hunsrück heights. Catch the Hunsrückbahn train in Boppard which will take you up to the trail’s starting point.
The Loreley-Aar Cycle Trail
This cycle trail is particularly demanding due to the challenging nature of its elevation profile. 41 kilometres in length, it traverses the whole of the Rhein-Lahn district from west to east. Between Zollhaus/Hahnstätten and St. Goarshausen the trail passes through the beautiful Taunus region.
The Rheingau-Riesling Route
This route is 42 kilometres in length and leads from Flörsheim/Wicker to Rüdesheim. It passes through the idyllic Rheingau landscape full of winegrowing
villages that are just waiting to welcome you.
The Nahe Cycle Route
The route runs for a total of 130 kilometres from the source of the Nahe near
Selbach to where it joins the Rhine at Bingen. It’s one of the more leisurely
trails and takes you through romantic river valleys and the Nahe wine-producing
region with its fruity vintages.
The Lahn Cycle Route
The cycle path winds its way for 58 kilometres downstream, following the river
Lahn from the cathedral city of Limburg via historic Bad Ems - once an imperial
spa town - before finally reaching Lahnstein. At the last missing section of
the route between Laurenburg and Balduinstein, cyclists can bridge the gap by taking the train.
The Moselle Cycle Route
Twisting its way around numerous bends, the cycle route follows the river for 238 kilometres from the castle Schloss Thorn to the city of Koblenz where Rhine and Moselle meet. The route passes through most of the famous Moselle wine-producing communities, turning your journey into a gourmet tour.
